Elohim
Elohim (Hebrew: אלהים), is the first reference found in Genesis. El meaning deity which is pluralized with -im, giving “The Gods.”
Yahweh
Yahweh or Jehovah (“He causes to become”) is the name used by ancient Israel for God. It is known as the true name of God. It is often written abbreviated YHVH or YHWH without vowels.
Adonai
Out of respect for the name of God. Adonai was used as a replacement of YHWH when reading texts aloud so as to avoid to frequent repetition of the name.
